Today I am adding dolls from ENGLAND, CHINA, SWEDEN, and the PHILIPPINES.  

For more information about the dolls, please see the website.  Just click onto the INVENTORY Tab at the top of the page, and put in the Code No. for the doll, as shown on the photos below, and the dolls will come up.  If you just put in the name of the country, all the dolls I have listed in that country will come up.

HAPPY SAINT DAVID's DAY FROM WALES, U.K.

 HAPPY SAINT DAVID's DAY to all my Welsh friends and followers.

I am putting this post on here rather late in the day, because I have spent quite a time this evening doing some research about this doll. Not a word of what I was told by the Salesman when I bought the doll in the early 1990's is true! Haha. But I still LOVE the doll! It just goes to show that you cannot always believe what a salesman/saleslady tells you. She is a walking doll and is three feet tall. C.1935.

MY BEGIAN LIBERATION DOLL

 MY BELGIAN LIBERATION DOLL

     I thought I would give you all a "nice smile" today, to cheer you up on this dull and dreary Lockdown Day.

     This cheerful young girl is a Liberated Belgian doll, and is 13" high.  She has a bisque (?) head with painted features, and is jointed at the neck and shoulders.  She is stitched at the top of her legs, to enable her to sit.  She was made by "UNICA" just after the Second World War in honour of the Liberation of the German Occupation.  She is C.1945.  There is a similar doll featured in the book:  "European Costumed Dolls" by Polly and Pam Judd, pages  11 and 12.

MARKS: None.  There would have originally been a cloth tag on the bottom of her dress.

 CORONAVIRUS UPDATE:   

 Today it was announced that WALES will still be in Lockdown for another three weeks.  But things are improving slightly.

      I still have dolls waiting to be catalogued, and listed on my website, which I am hoping to do soon, including some very pretty Japanese dolls..

I love working on these Market Stalls, but I am beginning to run out of space!  Here is my latest Market Stall - "World Costume Dolls - Prop. Dot Comm"

I have just "finished" this one, but I need to look for more "tiny" dolls. They are not easy to find!

The Jordanian lady on the left, who is handing a little Guatemalan doll over to the young girl, is looking after the stall for her friend Dot Comm, (the proprietor), who has gone to the warehouse to buy more dolls.

"WORLD COSTUMES" - MY LATEST MARKET STALL

A WORLD COSTUMES MARKET STALL

I had the idea to make a Market Stall for "World Costumes", so named, after my website: www.worldcostumedolls.com

I purchased this market stall in kit form, and painted it with Annie Sloan paint in Louis Blue.  I added a base, which I painted with "French Linen". 

The costumes were all taken off damaged dolls, and dolls I no longer needed to keep, with the exception of the Scottish kilt, blouse and sleeveless jacket (on the extreme left, front), which I purchased off eBay  It is an exceptionally well made outfit, and is 1/12th. scale.

dressed as a lady from County Cork.
