FIVE NEW DOLLS LISTED ON WEBSITE

I have listed five new dolls on the website, from EASTER ISLAND, GAMBIA, GHANA, ECUADOR and MONGOLIA.
For more pictures and information, please see the website.

I have also changed the country from France to Israel, on the doll listed on my Blog of the 5th. May.  It appears to be dressed in a French costume but looks similar to the Sabra of Israel dolls, but several people have very kindly contacted me and informed me that it was made in Israel, by ISRADOLL.  Thank you to those who contacted me.  I really appreciate it.  Carole.

MY SPECIAL VISIT TO SPAIN (and a Basque doll)

I have just returned from a very memorable visit to Bilbao, Spain.  I feel very privileged to have been invited to submit some photographs of some of my dolls to go into a Spanish cookery book, and to be invited to the launching of the book in Spain.  When I arrived in Spain I was taken to the local Radio Station to be interviewed, via an interpreter.
The book is pictured below and is written in Spanish but it is hoped that it will be written in different languages in due coarse.  It is a cookery book with a difference and was written by members of the group - "Mujeres del Mundo Babel" (http://www.mujeresdelmundobabel.org/) which is a group living in Spain but a lot of the members were originally from many different countries around the world.  There are traditional recipes from twenty different countries with some of my doll pictures by the side of each appropriate recipe.  There is also a little about the culture of each country.
The dolls pictured below are dolls which I brought back from Spain.

To see more pictures and information about the dolls, please see the website.  Carole.

MORE MINIATURE KNITTING

To see more information about these items, please see the website where they are listed under the page "DIORAMAS".

AYIA KYRIAKI CHURCH
(where I attended a family wedding)
(If you click onto the photographs below, it will enlarge them).

This beautiful church was built around the 13th. century on the site of a small church which was destroyed by an earthquake in 59AD.  It is said that it was here that Saint Paul was flogged to death.  Saint Paul's Pillar, is in the front of the photograph.  It is surrounded by Roman ruins and mosaics.  It is a Greek Orthodox Church but it is also used occasionally by Anglicans and Catholics, with the permission of Bishop George.  The Orthodox Church still uses the church for special occasions.  There are five aisles in the church and it is near Paphos harbour.

KYKKO MONASTERY
(Troodos Mountains)
Kykko Monastery was founded around the end of the 11th. century by the Byzantine Emperor Alexios I Komnenos.  It is set on the north west face of the Troodos Mountains and is one of the richest Monasteries in Cyprus.  The gold plated altar is truly amazing.  No photography is allowed inside the Monastery.
The President of Cyprus, Archbishop Makarios 1V started his ecclesiastical career there as a monk in 1926.  He was buried in 1977 and it was his wish to be buried near the Monastery.   His tomb is 3km west of the Monastery.  It is a popular visitors destination.
