Today I am listing dolls from SWEDEN, ROMANIA, the CZECH REPUBLIC, ITALY and ALGERIA, including Charlotte Weibull and Magis Roma dolls.
You can see more information about the dolls, on the website.  I love the Tatra boy from the Czech Republic.  His outfit is exquisite!

At the bottom of the post I have added a photo of me (on the left, in the blue jacket) on a walk which I did a few weeks ago.  It was a very cold day, just 1 degree centigrade  We were walking for about four miles, through snowdrifts about 10" deep.  The scenery was well worth it, though!

MY VISIT TO THE WEST WALES MUSEUM OF CHILDHOOD, Llangeler, U.K.

Yesterday I had a very memorable visit to the WEST WALES MUSEUM OF CHILDHOOD in Llangeler, Carmarthenshire, Wales. You can see the Museum on their website at: www.toymuseumwales.co.uk
We were warmly welcomed by Hilary and her husband Paul Kennelly, the owners of the Museum. The buildings the Museum are housed in are around 300 years old and in them can be found displays of wonderful old toys, household items, dolls, prams and dolls houses, a Television and Film Gallery and an old classroom display featuring 150 year-old desks from the original school at nearby Cenarth, etc., etc. There is so much to see there but you can always take a break with refreshmments in the Tea Room and Gift Shop, which is also on the site!

I have added this post with the kind permission of Hilary and Paul, owners of THE WEST WALES MUSEUM OF CHILDHOOD, Pen-ffynon, Llangeler, Carmarthenshire SA44 5EY - U.K.
I thoroughly recommend a visit to the Museum. You will be amazed at the displays of 10,000 exhibits!

HAPPY EASTER

It's Spring, and with it has comes the first little lambs.  Daffodils proudly nod their heads, and the snowdrops are peeping shyly through the snow.  Evenings are getting lighter and the birds are starting to chirp their merry songs again.  What a lovely time of the year!

MY MALAYSIAN DOLLS HOUSE "KUANTAN"

KUANTAN
This is a little dolls house which I have worked on as a Malaysian house.  I adapted it after purchasing it in a market, some years ago.
I have put the information all onto a NEW PAGE - "MY MALAYSIAN DOLLS HOUSE "KUANTAN".  To view it, just click onto that page, at the top, right hand side of this page.  If you click onto the photos, you will be able to see the detail a little clearer.
You can also see the house under "DIORAMAS" on the website.

HAPPY ST. DAVID'S DAY! (and a walk near Elan Valley Dam

HAPPY ST. DAVID'S DAY!
(1st. MARCH)
Wishing all my friends and followers a very HAPPY ST. DAVID'S DAY!
I would also like to welcome my new followers.  I hope you will continue to enjoy my site.

I feel that  the little Welsh doll below is rather unusual, as although Welsh dolls are often shown with a harp, they are not often to be seen with a "CELTIC" harp.

I am also showing some pictures which were taken at Elan Valley, Mid. Wales, on a VERY wet and windy day last Decenber!
For more information about the dolls, please see the website.  Thank you.  Carole.

WALES (un-catalogued)
This doll was originally a shop model which I bought in a second hand shop.  I dressed her in Welsh costume  and gave her a wig.  Originally, she did not have a head but I covered a large ball (a Welsh one, of coarse!), and my grandaughter drew the face on her.

SOME INFORMATION ABOUT ELAN VALLEY:
The Dams were built during 1893-1904.  They were constructed mainly from Blue Pennant Stone quarried in South Wales.
There is a Visitors Centre in Elan Valley where there is a Cafe, a Souvenir Shop and a very interesting display of model workers (as above).  Car Parking and Toilet facilities are also available.
There is breathtaking landscape and an abundance of wildlife to be seen around the area, which is very popular with walkers and cyclists.
